Downtown Construction Update: Locust Street Revamp Enters Final Phase

The downtown construction project's last phase is underway on Locust Street and surrounding areas. As part of Central San's ongoing initiative, the updated schedule indicates the city will repave Locust Street from Mt. Diablo to Civic Drive after completing utility upgrades. This work will also impact some sidewalks.

The construction covers both Locust and Bonanza Streets, with completion targeted for Fall 2024, although adjustments to the timeline may occur.

Current Construction Schedule:

  • Week of April 8: Crew 1 is working on the eastern side of Cypress Street near Locust, moving later to the western side. At the same time, Crew 2 is focusing on the northern part of Locust Street, from Mt. Diablo towards Cypress Street.

  • Starting April 15: Crew 1 will proceed to the western side of Cypress Street. Concurrently, Crew 2 will continue northward on Locust Street from Mt. Diablo to Cypress Street.

Residents and commuters should expect ongoing changes and plan accordingly.
